Who it is for
A man or woman who wants to understand and consciously choose how their work is organized, rather than simply inherit the default structure around it. You may already work independently, be preparing to begin something new, or be deliberately leaving an existing structure and wanting to start fresh. You may want greater ownership of what your effort creates, more of the value it produces, fewer unnecessary dependencies, or better alignment between your work and your conscience.
You do not need to know the framework beforehand. That is what Foundations teaches, and Foundations is open to you whenever you want it. The Orientation is simply a good place to start thinking.
What it is, and what it is not
The questions walk through how your work is organized and how it came to be that way: what matters most to you about working independently, which parts of the arrangement you deliberately chose, which arrived by default or on someone else's advice, and where the way you operate no longer matches what you would choose today. Most men and women find the questions themselves clarifying, whatever they do afterward.
It is not an application, a test, or a gate. There is nothing to pass and nothing to qualify for. Foundations is open to anyone who wants the education, with or without the Orientation. Questions of structure, tax, and legal analysis belong to later work you would choose deliberately. Answering commits you to nothing.
What happens after
Kyle reads every Orientation personally and writes back to you himself. Not a verdict, and not a decision about what you are allowed to do next: a considered reply to what you actually said, in his own words.
What you share also becomes the honest starting record for anything that follows, so later stages build on your facts rather than asking you the same questions twice.
Why it usually comes first
Foundations teaches the framework, and it is worth taking on its own terms whenever you want it. The Orientation simply gives you a clearer picture of your own situation before you begin, and gives Kyle a real sense of your work before he hears from you again. It is the natural first step, not a requirement.

Participants remain responsible for understanding and choosing what they implement.
