Why this exists.
Privatepreneur began with a simple question: how much of what surrounds your work belongs there? You chose what you create and whom you serve. Most of the rest, the systems, roles, agreements, and obligations attached to doing it, was never seriously questioned by anyone.
That question comes from experience, not theory. Kyle Henson watched titles, entities, accounts, and institutional expectations accumulate around twenty-five years of ordinary service, then rebuilt his own working life through private arrangements and learned what that takes. Privatepreneur is the method that came out of it.
The belief behind it is plain: what a man or woman creates belongs at the center of their working life, and everything built around it should be there on purpose. The Privatepreneur Method is the practical bridge from that belief into understanding, design, implementation, and stewardship.
From learning to operation
It's possible to understand the difference between the man or woman and the legal persona, or between private compensation and statutory income, or between a private agreement and a public one, and still not know what any of it means for one particular operation. Understanding a distinction and applying it to real relationships, real payment flows, and real obligations already in place are two different skills.
Learning rarely answers the practical questions an operation raises: what genuinely applies here, what should stay public, what can truthfully change, and which obligations are still active. Then come the working questions of agreements, compensation flow, records, installation, and keeping the arrangement current afterward.
A document doesn't close that gap by itself. It has to be built from an honest assessment of the facts, or it just repeats the same disconnect in a different form.
Freedom grounded in responsibility
Privatepreneur doesn't define freedom as freedom from responsibility. Greater autonomy asks for more of it: accurate facts, a clear understanding of the capacities being used, conscious choices, honest agreements, clearly accepted responsibilities, consistent conduct, and peaceful remedy when something goes wrong.
Your time, knowledge, skill, property, creativity, and effort can produce real value. Private business asks you to understand what's yours, what you're offering, what another man or woman is receiving, what compensation or exchange is occurring, what agreements affect the relationship, and what you consciously choose to retain.
The purpose of that autonomy isn't isolation. It's greater freedom to create and serve in relationships you understand and consciously choose, one man or woman having something of value to offer, another choosing to receive it, with agreement, property, and compensation defining what passes between them.
“The only freedom which deserves the name, is that of pursuing our own good in our own way, so long as we do not attempt to deprive others of theirs.”
John Stuart Mill, On Liberty
That's also why private business doesn't mean automatically rejecting every entity, bank account, payment processor, public platform, license, insurance arrangement, employment relationship, or other piece of public infrastructure. Some of it genuinely earns its place. The goal is conscious participation, not automatic participation, in either direction.
You may care deeply about what you create while questioning how much of your time, money, property, participation, or support should flow through institutions or agencies you don't trust or align with. Privatepreneur approaches that concern through understanding and discernment rather than defiance: deliberate choice, peaceful nonparticipation where it's genuinely available, conscious retention of public tools where they're useful, and responsibility for the obligations that remain active.
The commitment throughout is to the simplest arrangement that genuinely fits the facts, not the most elaborate one, and not a predetermined template applied regardless of what an operation looks like. An agreement is only as good as its match to real conduct, real payment flow, and real records.
The Privatepreneur Method
Learning and understanding lead to factual application, an operating design, a usable implementation, and ongoing stewardship. Four paid stages, each building on the one before it, after the free Orientation:
-
Foundations
Understanding before structure. The paid Method begins here.
-
Blueprint
One factual operating design, built from your facts.
-
Implementation
The design put into writing, then put into practice.
-
Stewardship
Ongoing attention as the work and circumstances change.
About Kyle Henson
I spent approximately 25 years building and operating a small insurance agency. That experience taught me the realities of serving people, developing relationships, managing responsibilities, and keeping an established service operation working over time.
It also led me to question many of the assumptions surrounding how work is commonly organized: the titles, entities, accounts, agreements, licenses, systems, and institutional expectations that can accumulate without ever being consciously examined.
A significant part of my foundational private-life education came through my relationship with Gregory Saunders at Private Life. I first worked with Greg as a student and currently serve as one of his consultants at Private Life. Greg taught me much of the foundational knowledge that eventually informed my work in developing Privatepreneur, and I remain grateful for his teaching and mentorship.
Since leaving the insurance industry, I have built and carried on three operations entirely through private arrangements. Through that experience, I learned that understanding the distinctions is only the beginning. The harder work is applying them truthfully: designing the relationships, agreements, compensation flow, records, tools, responsibilities, and daily practices that make the arrangement usable.
I created Privatepreneur to help you make that same journey: from private-life learning into understanding, intentional design, practical implementation, and ongoing stewardship.
Privatepreneur is my independent methodology and operating system. It reflects the education I received, the experience I gained, and the original processes, tools, assessments, and implementation methods I have developed to help others carry on their work with greater ownership, freedom, autonomy, responsibility, and control.
Direct interaction with Kyle is already part of the Method. Optional additional time is also available, see Private 1:1 with Kyle.

Where this leads
This is built for a man or woman who values greater ownership of what they create, wants greater freedom and autonomy, and is willing to look at the facts honestly, whether that work is already running or still taking shape. The path runs from the free Private Business Orientation, through Foundations and its confirmation, toward the Blueprint.
